Built Wing Jig
Today I built the wing jig. I went with a traditional setup -- very simple and very cheap. I thought about building a rolling wing jig that many people build these days (made possible by pre-punched parts) but decided against it. We're going to store the wings in one of the guest bedrooms where the empennage is stored. I know the wings will fit up there. The question is whether or not I can get them there through the house! If not, other arrangements will have to be made.
This picture is really a cool optical illusion. The angle on the left looks cocked up while the one on the right looks straight. In reality they are both level (see below).
Another shot. Notice that I am planning on building both wings at the same time, one wing on each side. I still need to do a couple other things. I'm not certain about the 4x4's on the floor...I'll probably need to secure them some other way. Oh well....
You know, I really don't know why people have such a difficult time getting a wing jig in their garage. You can see above that I was able to get mine on 'my' side of the garage and my wife can still get her car in the other side. I guess I just have less junk than other folks.
