Took H-stab to Mike's For Help on Tips
Today I took my horizontal stabilizer over to Mike's house so he could give me some pointers on the fiberglass tips. Basically, the plans call for you to just slap 'em on and rivet 'em, but everyone seems to do more to them. Mike gave me a bunch of pointers that should help me out. We ended up trimming the tips, spacing out the holes and match-drilling them to the skin.
You know, this is one of the great things I'm discovering about the RV community. You always hear that it's the people that make RV's great -- every step of this project reaffirms that for me. I had mentioned to Mike that I wasn't quite sure how to finish the tips nicely and his response was "bring 'em over to the house and we'll work with them. I've got everything you need".
As soon as I got over there, his (newlywed) wife Michelle (bonified Team RV photographer/videographer) had just finished preparing dinner and she promptly sat me down at the table to feed me. So Mike gave me a hand on my project and his wife fed me....what a deal.
