Framed Baggage Area; Finished (almost) Drilling Fuselage
Today I went out to drill the remaining two floor stiffeners, but there's no way I can do it solo...I need someone to hold it for me whilst I drill...so I went ahead and started framing the baggage area. I started by fluting and clecoing the vertical and horizontal ribs.
The lower section of the baggage area gets side walls. For whatever reason, Van's has you trim them.
They give you these notches to give you a place to start trimming.
And you can see the baggage floor and the covers in place.
Here's another view.
Well, except for the aformentioned stiffeners, everything on the fuse is drilled. I walked around it a couple of times double-checking everything. I went ahead and used a unibit to open up the holes for fuel lines, vent lines, etc. Everything's good to go. I'm contemplating messing around with the forward side skin stiffeners. There's a bit of an indention there that I'm not happy with. I'll sleep on that one.
Goodness...my knees are really taking a beating crawling around on the floor. I guess I should invest in some decent knee pads. I seriously don't understand how older people build these things.
