Started Disassembly of Fuselage
Today I started out by walking up and down the street looking for any neighbors that were at home. I mean, we live in a neighborhood of 200+ homes and I couldn't find anyone home that I knew. I needed someone to hold the two outter floor stiffeners while I drilled them. Instead I decided to improvise and I cut a piece of 2x4 that I could wedge between the two flanges of the center section spar carrythrough that would hold the stiffener against the skin. Worked like a charm.
Now all four stiffeners are drilled. I went back through the fuselage and double-checked everything...looked over the plans again...and started taking this beast apart.
Here's my redneck air conditioner. It's super hot here now and I've been leaving the garage doors closed and running this fan in the door to the kitchen. It works great...I've been getting the temp down to around 83 degrees in here. It's 95 outside, so 83 is a heck of a lot better. Burton (my frequent riveting partner) came over to check out the progress and as I was talking to him and pulling out the lower longerons....
Ouch!!! I drug my finger across the firewall. This cut is a good one...pretty darn deep.
Wow....this one bled for a while...it put an end to my work day. I had a very difficult time getting it to stop bleeding. You think this is gross? Well, whatever.
