Ready For Engine Run
Well, it was a late night but I think I got everything ready to do the first engine run-up tomorrow. Actually, I do need to connect the breather hose (no big deal) and the fuel pump overflow hose (no big deal either), but then I'll fire it up. Tonight I actually put 5 gallons of avgas in each tank to see if I could pressurize the fuel system. I had one small leak in the fuselage and leaks at both ends of the metered fuel hose. None of those fittings where tightened but I snugged them up and there are now no leaks. I also got a little overzealous and flooded it...yes...fuel does indeed come out when you do that. :-)
It was really neat watching the fuel flow and fuel pressure indicators come alive on the Dynon EMS. Can't wait 'til tomorrow.
I did find one dreaded blue stain on the bottom. Dadgummit. Oh well, this leak is one of the easier ones to fix. I'll just wick some loc-tite up into the hole. I'm very curious to see how many leaks I have when I top off the tanks.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post a video of the first engine start. Stay tuned....
I also did the final install of my ailerons. I stole the trick of using a nylon spacer as a control stop. It works great!
