Riveted Left Outboard Top Skin
I convinced Jaime to come out again today and help me rivet the outboard skin on the left wing. Again, she did a fantastic job. I still need to squeeze the rear spar to skin rivets...but I can do that on my own. All I need to do is squeeze those...build a wing cradle...fix a leak in the left tank...
My fuselage kit is scheduled to be shipped the week of the 21st of next month...which means the end of February has sort of become my goal for finishing the wings. I don't think that will be a problem. If I finish earlier, I may go ahead and work with the wingtip. I don't have my wingtip lights yet...but I can obviously do the reinforcement strip/nutplate thing. Oh yeah...gotta order those nutplates since the kit apparantly comes with only the hardware to pop-rivet them on...which to me isn't really an option.
Oh yeah...I just noticed that in the picture above it appears that there is a major deformation in the skin two ribs inboard from the 'scarf joint'. I went back out and checked to be sure...and no..there isn't anything there. It's just the way the light is bouncing off stuff.
