Finished Firewall (excluding recess)
Today I went out and finished riveting the firewall (well, everything except the recess). There are also other holes that need to be cut, etc. but I won't worry with those until I start actually getting ready to hang the engine. I'm still not sure what engine I'm going to put on this sucker, so I'll wait. This was several hours of work, but I only got one picture...and it's a blurry one at that.
Then I brought down the center section from the storage room (read: one of the guest bedrooms). This is hopefully what I'll start cranking on tomorrow.
For the family members and friends reading this that aren't airplane types, the center section is just forward and under the seats. The wings slide into this thing and you bolt them on. The center section transfers the load from the wing spars onto the fuselage. In other words, this thing is super-critical. It's mostly done for you. It comes shipped with the wing kit because it's match-drilled to the wing spars in a precision jig. Anyway...from other builder's logs I've seen that this takes quite a few sessions to get it done.
