LZU to CTJ in a Cessna
Jaime asked me earlier this week if we could fly over to Carrollton, GA to visit her old college room mate. It was an interesting trip. There is a huge cluster of class D airports and the Atlanta class B. I decided the best way to go would be from LZU direct to MJE (Dobbins Air Reserve Base) then to CTJ (West Georgia Regional). Jaime snapped this fantastic picture of a cargo plane (anyone know what this is? Looks smaller than a C-5) flying into Dobbins. He's on an overheard approach, making a left break. He's actually landing on the runway you see in the picture there. He'll make a 360 turn all the way back to the beginning of the runway, but if you're an RV guy or an old military guy...you already know this.
And here we are on approach to West Georgia Regional. You can't really see the VASI here, but I'm actually coming in quite high and I had to slip it to get it down to the runway. I really prefer doing that since it gives me great odds of making the runway and not having to put it down in those trees you see there if the engine decides to quit on final. More pictures can be seen here.
