I have an electrical system!
Yeah, I know...it looks like it's been a while since I worked on the plane. This past weekend I went to the mountains with some friends and then Monday I had to work late, followed by orchestra rehearsal. Then yesterday I started cutting the lightening holes in the battery box but my cutter just wasn't getting it done. So today during my lunch break I drove over to Lowe's and purchased a Greenlee hole cutter (not one of their punches...just the regular metal cutter). Night and day. That thing sliced right though the steel.
Anyway, after getting the holes cut I sanded it down, polished the holes with my scotch-brite wheel, then drilled the side brackets, deburred and dimpled the holes, countersunk the holes on the brackets, painted the box then riveted it together.
Then I match-drilled the battery box to the firewall. The brackets get nutplates installed but I haven't installed them yet. Here the box is held on by clecos. Hey...I have an electrical system...ok...that may be a stretch.
