Finished Trimming Baffles to Top Cowl
More baffle work today. Ron Brown came over and helped me trim some of the baffles. He's building a -9A and is a little bit behind me so he want to learn from my misfortune. :-)
Anyway...we removed/re-installed the top cowl too many times to count and trimmed the baffles a little at a time. The plans say to get between 3/8 and 1/2 clearance between the cowl and baffles and we aimed for 7/16 all the way around, which we mostly achieved. The front is a little tighter and I will probably bring it down a little more. Next step is to install the upper ramp things, the oil cooler and the cabin air pickup (for cabin heat). Then install the reinforcements, clean everything up and rivet it together. My goal is to finish all of this by this weekend. If I can get the seal material on by this weekend it will be a bonus.
Thanks, Ron for the help!
