Last Skin Riveted!!!!
Tonight Jaime came out and helped me rivet on the last skin. She really doesn't enjoy riveting but she will come out and help me if I ask. Jaime...that's it. You're done! No more rivets (ok, there are some but not any I need help with)! Tomorrow is the big move of the fuselage to the airport. I pretty much got everything done that I could do at the house, except a couple of firewall forward things. Most of the work at the airport will be bolting/torquing/safetying stuff. My hope is to finish up the wing stuff and take the wings to the airport next weekend and bolt them on.
I did remove the tail so we could extract the fuselage from the garage. I'm actually leaving the tail and the wings here for now. For the tail I need to do the fiberglass work and drill the two elevator horns together and they'll be ready to be bolted onto the fuselage. For the wings I need to comply with the recent fuel tube safety wire SB and install a bulkhead fitting on the pitot line.
And yes, I did go "garage fly" my RV just one more time. I sat in there at least twenty minutes with tunes over the headsets, thinking about all of the blood and sweat spilled in this garage.
