FIRST ENGINE START!!
What a day! Today was the day I had planned last week to start the engine. Mike flew over, two friends in their planes flew over and it was all good. I'm not going to have any friends around for the first flight so I thought I would have folks here for this. What a good time!
In the video you'll hear someone reference a rag in the inlet. There WAS NOT A RAG IN THE INLET. It was sitting on back of the FAB. We all missed it setting there but it was no big deal. You can see it blow away.
* RPM was reading 2x normal. Easily changed in EMS.
* Fuel pressure is reading low -- 12 psi. Simple calibration needed. I probably have the wrong sensor type selected in the EMS or something.
* Need to adjust idle setting. This, along with the engine being slightly flooded, was why it didn't fire the first time. This is also why the engine shut down. I wasn't planning on shutting down yet but when I pulled the throttle to idle that's exactly what happened. No big deal though..just a simple adjustment. We'll try again soon.
Oh yeah...I know I cranked for 14 seconds the first try and you're only supposed to try for 10 seconds.
Many thanks to my friends that came out to help share this big occasion. Special thanks to Mike for taking over the operation and gettin' stuff done like no one else can. Thanks to Alan Adamson for the video.
