Busy day of flying
So, 'bout time for an update, huh? I spent the past days off my feet due to a nasty spider bite on my leg. The spider bit me in the hangar. Unbelievable. The doctor said there wasn't much I could do except elevate it and take some steroids (which I didn't do -- he said the 'roids were completely optional).
Well, as you can see, my gear leg fairings/wheelpants are still not on the airplane. I ordered the stainless brackets from fairings-etc.com but they were back-ordered. I do have them in now, but the weather around here is absolutely beautiful.
Today was a busy day. This morning there was a fly-in at Covington, GA which I attended, then I flew up to Dahlonega, GA for gas ($3.60/gal). I do believe that Dahlonega has the cheapest gas in Georgia. Madison, GA usually runs a close second. This photo is of my plane at Dahlonega.
In case you get up there and there's no none around, this little building is where you'll find a restroom. This place isn't much in the way of facilities, but it's very quaint.
I flew back to LZU but then got asked if I could ferry a guy down to Perry, GA. Uhmm....yeah of course! The guy I carried down is in our EAA chapter and he bought a beautiful c-150 to finish his private in. The seller ferried it up to LZU, but forgot the paperwork, so Mike took the seller, I took the buyer and we went down to Perry. It was a nice little flight.
Our planes on the ramp at Perry.
Here's the FBO building at Perry. It's a very nice little building and VERY GREEN compared to the Atlanta area which is under major drought conditions.
Did I also mention that I got a new toy? I really lucked into a 496 at a great price (thanks, Kahuna). That thing is awesome. One of the neat things is it records your flights (if you want it to) and you can import the files into Google Earth and see 3D flight tracks. It's awesome. Here is the landing and take-off at Perry.
